Team Software Process: A Practitioner’s Checklist

Tuesday
Presentation

The AV-8B Software Development Team stepped off on the Team Software Process (TSP) journey in the fall of 2000. One group committed to TSP for the development of the AV-8B Joint Mission Planning System (AVJMPS) Unique Planning Component (UPC). In 2002, another group adopted TSP to produce the Open Systems Core Avionics Requirements (OSCAR) Operational Flight Program (OFP) H2.0 Block Upgrade. In 2003, these groups have delivered two major products with outstanding quality records.

These experienced practitioners have some sound advice on meeting the first two of TSP’s five objectives, described by Watts S. Humphrey in the April, 1998, issue of Crosstalk to build self-directed teams and to move software managers into a coach’s role. They suggest a list of items that you will want to add to your project startup checklist.

The team will also share some of their ideas for what should come next in their TSP odyssey.
