Acquisition Modeling: The Key to Improving Acquisition Results?

Tuesday
Presentation

This presentation will describe the results to date of a multi-year research project undertaken by The Aerospace Corp. into the use of modeling and simulation to better understand the software-intensive system acquisition process. This presentation will introduce the modeling and simulation method used for the research. It will describe the rationale for the selected technique and will provide examples of the successful application of the technique in other domains. This presentation will provide a brief description of the acquisition model, its assumptions and limitations. It will also provide representative insights about the acquisition process gained from studying the model’s behavior. The session will conclude with a description of the future direction of this research and the potential uses of models of this type in acquisition program management and training.
