Information Technology Architecture and Investment at USTRANSCOM

Wednesday
Presentation

The Defense Transportation System (DTS) Enterprise Architecture (EA) at U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) is increasing in importance with each new joint service warfighting capability. USTRANSCOM integrates the EA into its operational and financial processes, making it a key tool for senior leadership to manage its transportation capabilities, and to ensure the dollars invested in Information Technology support its operations.

The DTS EA is presented as more than a set of products. It is a management tool to support USTRANSCOM's operational assessments, enterprise capabilities management, and program review process. It describes how the stakeholders are engaged to build and maintain the architecture using a supporting EA database; and how the database is used to monitor system's compliance with the EA.

Present and future architecture challenges facing the command as the EA continues to grow in size and capability are highlighted.
