Combining agile software development and traditional Earned Value Management (EVM) requires a new approach. Our approach uses best practice metrics from agile development to provide key input into traditional EVM planning and reporting. Our goal is to give the program manager the tools necessary to help balance the contracting and stakeholders’ need for plans and traditional accountability along with customer and mission need to remain flexible and agile to deliver the best value for the time and costs expended.
An overview of lessons learned from implementing Agile EVM on a larger program will be discussed. Lessons include tool integration, measures, definition of value, mature areas, issues to overcome, and successes.
