FusionNet: Connecting the U.S. Army to Mission Critical Data in Extreme Environments

Major Warner heads up the U.S. Army’s FusionNet program, a revolutionary system that allows commanders to collect, access and disseminate mission critical data to and from the field, anywhere, anytime. During this session, Major Warner will outline the Army’s needs that sparked the genesis of FusionNet, the early stages of the technology, the challenges faced in creating a system usable in extreme environments where network infrastructure is unreliable and rapid deployment is required. Major Warner will discuss how these challenges were overcome to create a solution that is transforming the way the Army collects, tracks, and reports critical data on personnel, supplies, planning, and intelligence from thousands of miles away. FusionNet is aligned with the Defense Department’s Horizontal Fusion initiative that provides a general service-oriented architecture to allow cross-service communication and integration.

Major Warner, just back from deployment in Iraq, will provide recent, relevant, real-world examples of how this technology can be used in the field to help save the lives of U.S. soldiers.
